The Scales Mound Community Unit School District

The Scales Mound CUSD #211 is a Pre K-12 grade public school district 70 square miles in area, all of which is located in northern Jo Daviess County. The District is positioned approximately 25 miles east of Dubuque, Iowa and 80 miles southwest of Madison, Wisconsin. The areas making up the School District include the Village of Scales Mound, Apple Canyon Lake and the Galena Territory.


Enrollment is less than 300 students with an elementary class size average of less than 15 students per section and a pupil to teacher ratio of approximately 13 to 1. All Scales Mound Student are housed under a single school building. The district owns nor lease any other facilities. The District offers a rich curriculum and a number of co-curricular opportunities.


Scales Mound students have traditionally scored well on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test and the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. .
